The suspension has had many mods done to it! I started by disassembling the entire chassis (after it was removed from the body shell), and sand blasting all of the parts to bare metal. I then painted all the components with POR-15.

I used Polygraphite control arm bushings and new grade 8 bolts to assemble the underpinnings. Every wear item on the chassis has been replaced with new components. I boxed my old control arms with inserts obtained from Butler Classics. I have a 7/8" GM sway bar in the rear.

The entire brake system is new with the exception of the rear backing plates and spreader bars. I am using used aluminum drums in the rear also. All of the hard lines (brake and fuel) are new stainless steel, from Inline Tube.

The front end is highly modified, with '78 Trans Am spindles and disc brakes, Hotchkis upper control arms, 1.25" sway bar w/ polygraphite bushings. An '85 Monte Carlo SS steering box replaces the stock manual box

For rims, I chose Wheel Vintiques reproduction 15" Rally 1 rims. The fronts are 7" wide on 4.5" backspace and the rears 8" on 5" backspace. The tires are Dayton Daytona 255-60-15s in the back and 225-60-15s in the front.
Here are the Wheel Vintiques 15 X 8 Rally 1 reproductions for the rear. They have 5" backspacing. They do not fit on the front! They just barely rub the caliper. I have a set of 15x7" with 4.5" backspacing on backorder for the front that should fit fine. I have tried 15x7 rally 2's with the same backspacing, and they fit fine!
